"As a local here in Durango, CO, I’ve been shopping at Pine Needle Mountaineering for years, and they never disappoint. Whether I’m replacing a worn-out piece of gear or prepping for a big trip, this is my go-to spot. The quality of the gear they carry is always top-tier, and they consistently have good deals on both essentials and specialty items. Most recently, they helped me get ready for a trek in Europe. The staff offered thoughtful, practic..."
"We came up from Taos to shop for backcountry gear for upcoming season. Shout out to Duncan for his expertise in suggesting and fitting me in a perfect fit of AT boots. He was very attentive and knowledgable. Great selection of boots even out of season."
"They lost two customers today.. I witnessed the ski tech berate a customer who had a binding rip out of his ski. The conversation was about how the ski manufacturer (Icelantic) said the failure was due to improper mounting. The ski tech said it was the fault of the customer for having tele bindings mounted on this ski (?!?). Yet you are the one who took this customers money to mount this ski in the first place? Anyways, I witnessed the employee y..."
"Badass climbers work here! Went in to grab some sunglasses, chanced at asking the staff if they could show my son how trad climbing gear works. They gave us the most immersive intro to nuts and cams and an incredibly special account of Duncan and Trevor’s (I am so sorry if I got the names wrong, I have a terrible short term memory) recent adventure in which Duncan lead some super technical climbing with a 30 mile hike to even get to it. I am so ..."

"I had an excellent experience with this business. I had some doubts because there's not many reviews, so here I am. My Japanese kitchen knife had a broken tip, some bangs in the edge of the blade, and a larger chip missing near the shoulder. My knife was fixed very quickly, right in front of me, with everything being explained as to why it was being done, and the charge was only $5. Barry worked from lower grit belts to remove material where ..."
"My five essential kitchen knives were in dire need of sharpening, so I did what we all do: I Googled, "Knife Sharpening in Durango," and up popped Columbine Sharpening. From the first phone call, I knew I'd contacted the right guy, Eddie. He was kind, easy to work with, always answers his phone, and most important, he was GREAT at sharpening knives. I'm thrilled at the job Eddie did with my now super-sharp kitchen tools. And, I'm happy to ha..."
"Eddie killed it! I had him sharpen 2 pocket knives and re profile the broken tip of one of them. Very professional and timely. I dropped them off, and in 24 hours I picked them up. I prefer the new profile of the fixed tip way more than the original and it’s two of the sharpest knives I’ve owned. Almost to mirror finish. All for $25. Highly recommend!"
"Eddie fixed the my knifes. I’m a line cook, and my knives take a beating. I gave Eddie my knives two hours later my knives had a sharp edge, fixed the tips and gave me a mirror shine. If you care about your cutlery chose Eddie!"

"Not helpful at all! Walked in and wasn't greeted. Asked for the pack I was looking for and was pointed in a general direction. I asked more about the packs and they were not knowledgeable or willing to help at all."
"Thanks to the manager (Ryan?) for generously and helpfully resolving an issue with some new hiking shoes I purchased. He went above and beyond to make sure I "left the store happy." Makes it worth it to support local businesses like Gardenswartz!"
"Wanted to take a bit of time from my trip to write this. My wife and I found exactly what we wanted (immediately for me and almost immediately for my wife) and we were so beyond pleased with the staff, products, and store in general. Especially after getting turned away and ignored in the browns stores down the street. Thank you for everything! Seriously, anyone reading this should avoid those places."
"I walked in looking to spend $150-$200 on some hiking boots and stood in front of the boot wall for 5 minutes and no one offered me any help so I left. They didn't seem busy and the employees were standing around and chatting not helping the few customers that were there."

"Super awesome store for outdoor gear. I go in here all the time just to browse. The staff is also super friendly and helpful - Cody specifically helped me out with swapping some clothes I bought a few days earlier and overall made a great experience for me. Great customer service!"
"I ordered a leatherman through these guys on the phone. Long story short UPS and USPS let me down and lost my package and Kalan and the crew here helped me out so much. I’ve never personally been to the store the but the customer service I received over the phone, the multiple calls I made, was above and beyond. Please go spend your time and money here and support businesses like these."
"A shell of the old Gardenswartz...not nearly the same great vibe you used to get walking into that store. No greetings from anyone, and employees who look bored or talk only with one another. I too spent a lot of money there over the years, not so much anymore."
"It's always the first place I go to when im in Durango. Gransfors Bruks axes, awesome firearms selection, and everything i need for my trips outdoors. Thanks fellas!"

"Amazing help! We purchased a bow for our daughter ( her first one) and the guy helping us was super helpful and patient to get her set up. Even helped my husband get his bow sighted in after purchasing a left handed on on eBay a few years back. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat and everyone who came in seemed completely happy with them and they were very knowledgeable."
"This shop is generally good for buyers of used wares, bad for consignors or buyers of new wares. Their general strategy is to push a consignor to price their wares based on a rather outdated blue book of guns and then refuse to vet current market values. This is such that they can maintain any inventory that makes it worth looking at the shop at all. Apart from this, there is no competitive advantage to speak of save for a generally competent arc..."
"Spend ur money at CO gun fighter or online not this overpriced rude store who treats long time customers like garbage! , I have been a long time customer and spent thousands! Not anymore! The owner was so rude and unprofessional yesterday to me and my girlfriend looking for her first gun! We asked if they have any deals going on (we had taken advantage of them in the past) and she very rudely went on and on about how she don’t care if we want a d..."
"I purchased a hand gun and a red dot from GFTW. Before the purchase, their people showed me how the gun has a cover plate that can be removed to access mounting pins and holes. They showed how the red dot would be mounted and still allow use of iron sights. After the wait period, I went back and paid for the gun and sight. I had GFTW install the sight. Instead of mounting it properly, they mounted it on top of the cover plate. This blocked ..."
